Are Waterlox Original Finishes food-safe/non-toxic?

Waterlox finishes are non-toxic when dry for at least 7 days, when properly applied (e.g., spread rate and adequate drying conditions), and when overnight dry is allowed between coats. Full cure and hardness is achieved in 30 days. Many customers use Waterlox Original Finishes on items such as butcher-block counter tops and cutting boards, salad bowls and bowl turnings, knife handles and eating utensils, children's toys and furniture, etc. This does not apply to urethane products.  Here is more information about Waterlox on wood countertops http://www.waterlox.com/site/533/Default.aspx

I want to use Waterlox in my bathroom--will it stand up to moisture?

We think that our tung oil finishes are the perfect answer for all and any wood finishing project. When you add to that your plans to do a known water-related area like a bathroom, we think we are the only choice since no other finish has our waterproof properties...the origin of our name, Waterlox, stands for "locks out water"! Of course, you should not allow pooled water to remain on any wood surface. In a bathroom, we would suggest 4 coats of our finishes.

Can I put hot pots on a counter treated with Waterlox?

Generally objects as hot as boiling water (212 degrees) will not harm your Waterlox finish.
